Day 1: Arrival in Amman and travel to the Dead Sea
Welcome to Jordan! At the airport, a driver will pick you up and transfer you to the Dead Sea. En route, the driver will stop in Madaba, where you can browse the famous mosaics that color the town.
Upon arrival to your overnight destination, enjoy a soak or a mud bath in the world-famous Dead Sea, which is the lowest point on Earth. Take in the natural, relaxing surroundings, and rid yourself of any remaining stressors from your international flight. The night is at your leisure to enjoy.
Day 2: Travel to Petra
After breakfast, meet your driver, who will make the commute down the Dead Sea Highway—keep an eye out for some beautiful viewpoints. Next, ride up into the mountains and stop along the way at the crusader castle of Karak, where you can opt for a guided tour and some lunch. Then, continue along the ancient trade route of Kings Highway, and pause at Dana Biosphere Reserve for more scenic lookouts. The last stop of the trip is at Little Petra, where you can glimpse a small sampling of the surroundings on tomorrow’s itinerary.
Enjoy the evening in Petra at your leisure.
Day 3: Tour Petra
The day is yours to explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Petra. You have the choice between a guided or self-guided tour. Visit the Royal Tombs and make the climb to the viewpoint to look down onto the Treasury as the morning sun hits. Or, climb up the mountain opposite to the High Place of Sacrifice and take the trail down to the Garden Temple Complex. If you have enough energy left, opt to climb up to the largest of Petra’s monuments—the Monastery.
Following the exploration, there are several options to fill out the evening. Join the Petra By Night tour, a unique way to see the rock city by candlelight, have dinner with a local family, or attend a cooking workshop at Petra Kitchen.
Day 4: Tour Wadi Rum and travel to Amman
After breakfast, a driver will be waiting to take you south to the desert of Wadi Rum. Here, a 4x4 Jeep will take you on a 2-hour tour of the highlights of this UNESCO World Heritage Site—visit the Nabatean inscriptions, canyons, sand dunes, and the house of Lawrence of Arabia. Depending on your preferences, you can also request a 2.5-hour hike through Wadi Rum with a local guide, a camel ride, or even a hot air balloon ride (though the ride departs at 6 am).
Then, your driver will take you north to the capital, Amman. In the afternoon, tour some of the sites—the Citadel, the Roman Theatre, and downtown souks. If you prefer, a guided tour is an option, as well.
Enjoy the night in Amman at your leisure.
Day 5: Tour Jerash and depart from Amman
In the morning, visit the ancient ruins of Jerash. A driver will transport you about 45 minutes north to see the remains of this Roman city—the Hippodrome, the Roman Theatre, the Temples of Artemis and Zeus are some of the highlights. You can opt for a guided tour, if you prefer, and then enjoy lunch in Jerash following your exploration.
In the afternoon, your driver will transfer you to the airport in Amman to catch your flight home.
